The Naturehike TuYe R5.8 Mummy mat is a four-season inflatable mat designed for hiking, cycle touring and camping in cool weather. It combines a 5.8 R rating, 8 cm thickness and a lightweight design to make sleeping in a tent warmer and more comfortable, whilst ensuring it doesn’t take up unnecessary space in your rucksack. The mummy shape helps make the most of the sleeping space and is ideal for travellers who want reliable insulation without the bulk of a heavy self-inflating mat.
Naturehike TuYe R5.8 Mummy Mat: warmth and comfort all year round
Heat-reflective inner layers reduce heat loss to the ground, whilst the air-chamber construction evenly distributes body weight. The 8 cm thickness helps to even out minor unevenness in the ground and provides support whether you’re sleeping on your back or on your side. An R-value of 5.8 makes this mat suitable not only for summer hikes, but also for cooler spring and autumn nights. Actual comfort is always influenced by the sleeping bag’s temperature rating, the tent, clothing and specific weather conditions.
The 20D nylon outer fabric with a TPU coating is lightweight, hard-wearing and suitable for regular use in the great outdoors. The double valve makes inflation easier and allows you to deflate the mat quickly after a night’s sleep. The inflation bag included in the set can be used to inflate the mat without introducing moist exhaled air into the chambers. Before laying out the mat, it is advisable to clear the area of sharp twigs and stones, and to use a tent groundsheet or protective underlay beneath the mat.

When planning to spend the night, choose a level spot and do not over-inflate the mat. Slightly lower pressure often provides greater comfort in the hip and shoulder areas. In cold weather, re-inflate the mat once the temperature has dropped, as the air volume may decrease. Keep the repair kit in an easily accessible pocket of your kit.
